Youth Nutrition

Here's a secret: nobody likes vegetables. That every single veggie is delicious is a lie that adults have perpetrated on kids for way too long, and we’re here to change that.
Even grown-ups don’t like every kind of food, regardless of whether it’s “good for them.” Here’s the good news: everybody can find one or two things they really dig. For you, maybe it’s strawberries and raw carrots and broccoli. Maybe your sister prefers cantaloupe, apples and spinach. So why don’t we start there, with what you already like?
Eat every couple of hours — breakfast, lunch, an after-school snack, dinner and an evening snack — and make sure that it's all good, healthy stuff you love. Then, one day a week (I choose Sundays), treat yourself. That’s the day for the unhealthy stuff your mom never lets you have: French fries or ice cream or a sloppy cheeseburger (yum!).
The next day, go back to your favorite healthy foods, only this week make it your mission to find ONE more healthy food you like. It turns out that seaweed, while it looks kinda-gross, can be really tasty in the right salad.
And don’t worry, you can eat as much as you want. If you’re hungry: EAT! Just take your time so you don’t get to that uncomfortable “over-full” feeling. Before you know it, you'll have a ton of great tasting, healthy food you love, and you’ll be healthy and fit for the rest of your life!
